Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series hosts Food Drive at July 10 concert in Hyannis to help feed neighbors in need   Centerville - The Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series is hosting a food drive to support The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) during a special performance on Tuesday, July 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Aselton Park in Hyannis, featuring local artists Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys. Food donations will be distributed to local residents in need through GBFB member agencies in the Cape Cod Hunger Network.   "We are very excited to partner with the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod to support the critical work of The Greater Boston Food Bank that will help so many individuals and families who are struggling to put food on their table," said Jerry Sargent, President, Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Massachusetts. "This collaboration demonstrates that together we are on the road to ending hunger in our local communities."   GBFB serves more than 30 Cape Cod food pantries and will be on site to accept donations. Concert goers who donate non-perishable items at the performance will receive a Passport To The Arts, courtesy of The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. The Passport, a $20 value, offers discounts to local theaters, galleries and restaurants.   "Many people do not realize that hunger is a very real problem in Cape Cod communities," said Catherine D'Amato, GBFB President and CEO. "We are grateful for the efforts of Citizens Bank and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod to help end hunger in eastern Massachusetts by raising awareness and support with the Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series."   According to Mary Anderson, co-chair of the Cape Cod Hunger Network, GBFB distributes nutritious food to all 33 hunger relief agencies on the Cape. One of these agencies, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, receives food weekly from GBFB at no or very low cost enabling it to provide food to more than 1,000 households each month.   Concert attendants are encouraged to join Citizens Bank and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod in their effort to drive out hunger by donating a non-perishable that will help local neighbors in need. Desirable items include canned tuna, chicken, or other meats; canned soups or chili; plastic bottles or cans of 100 percent fruit juice; pasta, rice, or other grains; healthy cereal; dry or boxed shelf-stable milk; canned beans; peanut butter; or canned vegetables.   "We often lose sight of the fact that hunger is an issue for many people on Cape Cod. The opportunity, through our partnership with Citizens Bank, to help make a positive impact on our hungry neighbors in need, adds additional meaning to this concert." said Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Executive Director Kevin Howard.   The Citizens Bank Summer Concert Series features 48 performances by more than 20 popular local bands throughout the summer months. All concerts are free and open to the public.  Guests are encouraged to bring a beach chair or blanket to the concerts.  There will be no rain dates.
